¡Hola!

My name is Andrew Rodriguez Calderón ✌🏼

I am a computational journalist at The Marshall Project, a non-profit newsroom. I work with data & use collaborative design to report on the criminal justice system and to build products in collaboration with people most affected by the systems that we cover.

I also teach data, design and community engagement in the journalism + design department at The New School in New York City, and I work as Project & Product Designer with Journalism + Design Lab.

I am currently completing a bootcamp with Caltech about Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, two techniques that I have been applying in my journalism. To read more about this work, check out this article from Generative AI Newsroom called "Decoding Bureaucracy".

A few tools I use: Python, R, SQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, d3.js, Figma, Observable, Twilio, AWS systems, CircleCI, Docker, GitHub.
